Biography

At the age of six, Eric Caldwell, who is mainly self-taught, started sketching scenes and objects on the farm where he lived in central Kentucky. Teachers throughout his school years recognized his talent, and he was encouraged to pursue a career in art through the receipt of awards and scholarships. His first experience as a professional artist was three years in the United States Army as an Illustrator and Graphic Designer at Fort Benning, Georgia.
His education includes Oil painting and Life drawing instructions at the Academy Art Center at Linekona, Honolulu, Hawaii; Monterey Peninsula College, Monterey, California and a portrait-painting workshop with nationally acclaimed artist Daniel Greene.
Eric's recent paintings reflect his deep passion for Hawaii's history. His artwork can be found in private collections in Hawaii and throughout the US Mainland. His illustrations have been displayed at the Monterey Peninsula Museum of Art.
